*NYSC DG CHARGE CORPS MEMBERS ON RESPECT FOR CULTURAL VALUES AND DEVELOPMENT OF HOST COMMUNITIES*

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig Gen YD Ahmed ( FSS, MSS, DSS MTRCN, MANR, fdc, flni) has charged corps members to always respect the cultural values, customs, and norms of their host communities and to contribute meaningfully to the society where they will find themselves for their primary assignments.

While addressing the corps members deployed to Delta State during the 2023 Batch B Stream 1 orientation course, the Director-General urged the corps members to be disciplined and committed to the course of the service year. He admonished them to be good followers and obedient to rules and regulations. 

The NYSC helmsman tasked the corps members to ensure they add value to their host communities through Community Development Services either individually or as a group.
Corps members three hearty cheers to the NYSC Director-General.

He advised the corps members to shun the use of illicit drugs and other forms of social vices which can bring shame to them and their families. He enjoined the corps members to be security conscious at all times. 

Brigadier General YD Ahmed warned corps members to desist from night journeys and the negative use of social media. He further warned the corps members not to abuse the NYSC uniform and to dress appropriately whenever in uniform.

Earlier on, the State Coordinator, Mr. Alao, Olusegun Olaosebikan welcomed the Director-General and his entourage to camp. He gave a brief report on the state of the orientation camp.

The state coordinator also intimated the Director General on some achievements made so far including fumigation of the camp environment, organization of a pageant show for Mr. Macho and Miss NYSC, and cordial relationship between corps members and camp officials.

Mr. Alao however informed the Director General of some challenges facing the camp stating to include things like a perimeter fence, and operational vehicles among others.

High points of the Director-General's visit were the cultural entertainment by the NYSC troupe, cash gift to different committees on camp, and a donation of two fat cows, ram, and chickens for the corps members in Issele Uku.
