MINISTRY OF YOUTH DEVELOPMENT INSPECT NYSC DELTA SECRETARIAT, OVER FIRE INCIDENT

The Delta State Ministry of Youth Development today visited the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Delta State   Secretariat and inspected the Carnage from the fire incident that occurred early hours on Tuesday 8th of June, 2021 where the office of the State Coordinator, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) unit and Deployment and Relocation Branch were gutted by fire.

The team leader and Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youth Development, Ms. Mogbolu Ngozi sympathized with the NYSC Secretariat over the fire incident that destroyed Office furnitures, operational documents, photocopier machines, Desktop and laptop computers and printers in their numbers.

As the supervising ministry of NYSC in the State, their visit is necessitated, to get first hand information and subsequently brief the Governor on the ugly incidence which has posed a challenge to the operations of the Scheme in Delta State.

Ms. Mogbolu Ngozi commended the State Coordinator, Mrs Olutayo Samuel (JP) for putting measures in place in handling the situation to douse tension and palpable fears as a result of the fire incident and registration of Corps members relocated into the State. She charged the coordinator to come up with a comprehensive report on the fire incident to the State Government.

The State Coordinator Mrs Olutayo Samuel (JP) thanked the Permanent Secretary Ms. Mogbolu Ngozi for identifying with the Scheme in such a trying time. She mentioned that  a committee has been set up to unravel the true cause of the fire incident and will communicate the findings of the committee anytime soon.  it is quite unfortunate and a challenging time for the Scheme in Delta State to compete for accommodation space. The urgent need to provide accommodation for the affected office of the State Coordinator and other operational Offices that handles documentation of corps members relocated to Delta State becomes very important.  Presently the affected offices and Officers are sharing space with others in their office which is not convinent  as a result of the space. The office of the State Coordinator is not left out, as a make shift arrangement has been made to provide space for effective administration of the NYSC Secretariat.

Mrs. Olutayo Samuel (JP) has called on the State Government, good spirited individuals and the public to come to her aid in this trying times.

Other members of the Permanent Secretary's team, were Mr. Dioru Shehu, Director Youth Mobilization, Mr. Emmanuel Emuakpeje Director Youth Enterprise, Mrs. Anyafulu Anthonia Director Finance and Account and Mrs. Enuma Christy Director Administration.

The  Director of NYSC South-West Area Office, Mr. Amusan,  Oluwole Julius (JP) has visited the corps members of the 2023 Batch B stream 1 currently undergoing their orientation course, in Issele-Uku, Delta State.
