#* NYSC PROPOSES TRUST FUND TO AID CORPS ENTREPRENEURS*#

The Management of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at the National Directorate Headquarters (NDHQ) has proposed the establishment of NYSC Trust Fund to assist the would be corps entrepreneurs start up business of their own after service year.

This statement was made known  by the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim Associate Professor, DSS, MTRCN and Member Historical Society of Nigeria during the virtual address with prospective Corps Members (PCMs) and Camp Officials at the 2021 Batch 'C' Stream 2 orientation course.

The NYSC DG called on the National Assembly to do the needful to bring the initiative to bear, so that corps entrepreneurs could have start up capital to venture into business of interest. The helmsman is confident that the NYSC Trust Fund will help corps members access start up capital for business of their own and become employer of labour. 

Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim urged the prospective corps members to learn a skill, as there are no available white collar jobs for a pick easily, after the service year.  He warned the Batch of Corps Members to shun all form of criminalities, be disciplined, patriotic, principled and ambassadors of their families, their Institution and NYSC.

In his address, the essence of the National Youth Service Corps is to promote national unity, integration and cohesion. Corps members have been called up to be responsible and do things that will promote the unity, peace and development  of our country Nigeria. A warning has gone out to prospective corps members (PCMs) to desist from using the social media to fuel falsehood but rather use the media to propagate peace and unity. Also security of corps members remains a major priority to the Scheme and corps members were admonished to be security consciousness and avoid putting themselves in harm's way.

The NYSC Director-General  highlighted the four cardinal programme of the NYSC namely; Orientation Course, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service and Winding-Up/Passing-Out.  and urged corps members to actively participate in all programmes stipulated for them. He stated that orientation course is very important and offers prospective corps members the opportunity for leadership training, teamwork,  discipline, tolerance, Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training, among others preparation for the remaining phases of the cardinal  programme. 

"Your assessment for National Award starts from the orientation camp and other phases of the service year. I urge you to identify Community felt needs and address such as Community Development Service  projects to better the lives of people in your host community" said General Ibrahim.

Speaking further, General Ibrahim urged the PCMs to internalize the content of the Oath of Allegiance that would be administered on them during the swearing-in ceremony because it is binding on them during and after the service year.

General Ibrahim has charged the PCMs to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and to observer the COVID-19 protocols. He stated that Federal Government has given December 1st, 2021 as deadline for all public servant to get vaccinated. it is mandatory for Corps Members because you are also part of the Federal Public Service.

The helmsman of the NYSC Scheme has congratulated the prospective corps members for success in their academic pursuit which qualified them for mobilization and deployment nationwide. 

He charged PCMs to let the spirit of NYSC live in them and to remain good ambassadors of their families, institution and NYSC.

Highlights was the vote of thanks by Corps Camp Director, Babatunde Anjolaoluwa Diamond YB/21C/1544 who on behalf of other PCMs nationwide appreciated the NYSC D.G and his team for the efforts in strengthening the Noble Scheme to meet the present challenges of youth mobilization and unemployment. She commended the NYSC Management, Staff and collaborative agencies on camp for the warm reception accorded them on arrival in their respective orientation camps across the States in the federation.

The Corps Camp Director promised that she and her collegues will abide by the rules and regulations of the NYSC Scheme and  will make the NYSC D.G a proud father.
